Cooperation with Shanghai
Lyonbiopole is also involved in cooperative programs with Shanghai under the supervision of the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council:
> With the Cluster 10 « Infectious Diseases » network, to organize cooperative technological and higher education projects in the field of infectious diseases
> With ERAI for the preparation of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai
> Management of an International Corporate Volunteer (VIE): In 2009, scientific and technological cooperation between the Rhône-Alpes and Shanghai regions was strengthened by the recruitment of a VIE in the ERAI’s offices in Shangai for Lyonbiopole and Regional Cluster 10 “Infectious Diseases”. In this initiative, Simon Gudin, a Doctor in Molecular and Cellular Biology is responsible for finding existing and potential collaborative projects between Shanghai and Rhône-Alpes in the biotech field, at the academic, scientific and industrial level.
The COOPOL France-China Innovation program call for projects
The COOPOL Innovation program, driven by the Mission for Science and Technology at the French Embassy in Beijing, consists in organizing meetings in order to offer clusters’ innovative SMBs, in association with their academic research partners, a mission to assess potential cooperation between French clusters and Chinese technology parks in the areas of R&D and training. Since the launch of the program in May 2008, 8 specific missions, each targeting a single topic area, have been scheduled. PX’Therapeutics, a member of Lyonbiopole, and an academic partner, the CNRS Structural Biology Institute of Grenoble, participated in this program in 2009.
They speak about...
« I attach great importance to our relations with China, particularly with Shanghai, which I know since 1987. I am very pleased to sign the extension of our partnership between Fudan University Cancer Hospital and Mérieux Institute. In this laboratory, Transgene and bioMérieux collaborate closely with oncologists of this great hospital. On the other hand, acquisitions of Meikang Biotech and Zenka now allows us to produce in Shanghai rapid tests and culture media essential to the diagnosis of infectious diseases. »
