1. Build collaborative R&D projects between public and private research centers, enabling firms to create new markets, new products and new competitive advantages.

Lyonbiopôle's services:

- Support and expertise in setting up R&D projects

A dedicated team to help you and provide answers at every step of the project set-up phase, as well as to assist you in communicating with funding providers.

- Collaborative activities that lead to new projects

Lyonbiopôle initiates, runs and participates in activities in collaboration with other competitive clusters in order to promote your know-how and projects and to support you in your international development.

2. Take part in a dynamic process encouraging development of a skills network and close collaboration between companies and centers of expertise within the cluster's scope of activity.

Lyonbiopôle's services:

- The Lyonbiopôle Partnering Days

Lyonbiopôle's Partnering Days aims to promote accredited and funded projects to all of the project initiators and partners, to encourage dialog, to strengthen communication with other players that work closely with the cluster and to develop new projects. The first edition will be held in October 2007.

- Scientific and technological intelligence

Includes a weekly report on scientific/technological intelligence in the field of Infectious Diseases.

- Listing in the Lyonbiopôle directory

You can complete and update your details yourself using a password.

3. Gain access to the cluster's technological platforms and shared resources

Lyonbiopôle's services:

- Tools for managing collaborative projects

The Orée collaborative work platform is available to Lyonbiopôle members in order to optimize collaborative management of R&D projects. The main aim of this platform is to facilitate the coordination of projects while ensuring an optimum level of security and confidentiality. It enables all parties involved in a project to access the standard project management functions (document management, directory of contacts, shared calendar, forum, etc.) using only a Web browser. Each participant in your project will be given a login and password to access the project's collaborative workspace.

- Tailored services and training to help you manage and protect your innovations As the first step of this initiative, the French National Intellectual Property Institute (INPI) and Lyonbiopôle are setting up a range of services targeting cluster members in order to assist them in developing good practices in industrial property:

- Initial Industrial Property diagnostics for SMBs;
- Training and workshops on Industrial Property issues and resources; - Industrial property support for projects: diagnostics and industrial property audits;
- Tailored technical services: documentation studies on the state of the art, perform infringement clearance searches, determine freedom to operate and conduct technology watch.

4 Gain access to sources of funding for your R&D partnership projects by using Lyonbiopôle's accreditation service as a guarantee of quality in the eyes of public authorities.

Lyonbiopôle's services:

- Accreditation maximizes your chances of obtaining funding, thanks to the cluster's project set-up support service (reason 1).
- A network of experts to identify European and international calls for projects Lyonbiopôle's participation in these networks enables it to pinpoint new opportunities for R&D funding and to benefit from expertise in setting up projects based on the specifications of the call for projects.

Conditions for membership

Have an R&D and/or production and/or training activity that fits with Lyonbiopôle's research topics and sectors of application. This activity must be located within the cluster's geographic area.
Pay membership fees.

Any major international and national firm or organization with significant involvement in a cluster project and the potential to develop a high level of activity within the project may become a member. Membership is subject to approval by the association.

There are two categories of association members

Members are those firms and organizations that were involved during the preparation and planning phase following the French government's call for projects, during the cluster's launch and during the creation of the association
Partner Members are those firms and organizations that wish to join the cluster and be involved in the project.
